Notice on the 2026 Doctoral Program Re-examination (For International Applicants)

Based on a comprehensive review of the submitted application materials, including academic competence and language proficiency, the Department of Information Management has finalized the list of applicants who are eligible to proceed to the re-examination stage.

Applicants whose names appear on the attached list are requested to participate in the re-examination according to the following regulations:

I. Re-examination Schedule

The re-examination of English-taught program is tentatively scheduled for late February or early March;The re-examination of Chinese-taught program is tentatively scheduled for mid-to-late March, Specific dates and times for each candidate will be notified via email separately.

II. Re-examination Format

The re-examination of English-taught program will be conducted online (via video conference), the Chinese-taught program will be conducted in-person. Detailed instructions will be provided in a separate email.

III. Pre-examination Preparation: Qualification Review and Material Verification

Before the re-examination, the department will conduct a qualification review and material verification. Any form of fraud or forgery will result in immediate disqualification. Please prepare the following original documents in advance:

  1. Original Identification Documents (Passport, and valid visa/ residence permit if applicable. Current students should also present their original student ID).
  2. Original Degree Certificate(s) (Applicants who obtained their degree(s) outside of China must also submit the original official authentication report issued by the Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange (CSCSE), Ministry of Education, P.R. China).
  3. Original Language Proficiency Certificate(s) as submitted in your application.

IV. Re-examination Details

  1. All candidates will be assessed through an interview. The total score for the re-examination is 100 points.
  2. The interview for applicants of English-taught programs will be conducted in English. The interview for applicants of Chinese-taught programs will be conducted in Chinese. The interview process includes a personal statement, answering questions drawn from a pool, and responding to questions from the panel. The total interview time for each candidate will be no less than 30 minutes.
  3. Interview Content: The interview aims to assess the candidate's academic background, professional aptitude, practical skills, foreign language proficiency, critical thinking, and innovative potential. It will include:

Personal Introduction: A presentation by the candidate on their research experience and achievements, their understanding and perspective on their intended research field, and their preliminary research plan or proposal.

Oral Examination (Topic Selection): Candidates will randomly select a numbered question from a pre-defined pool presented to the panel and answer it orally.

Panel Q&A: Members of the re-examination panel will ask questions related to the candidate's foundational knowledge, research experience, and study plans.

English Proficiency Assessment (for Chinese-taught programs ONLY. This section does not apply to applicants of English-taught programs): A panel member will ask an impromptu question in English, which the candidate must answer in English.

V. Admission Principles

  1. The final re-examination score (full score 100) will be the sole criterion for the interview stage. Admission offers will be made based on scores in descending order.
  2. Candidates with a re-examination score below 60 (failing score) will not be considered for admission.
  3. The preliminary admission results are subject to final approval by the Graduate School of Peking University.

Please carefully review this notice. Failure to participate in the re-examination will be considered an automatic waiver of the admission opportunity.
